Fagan D. Stackhouse Receives Honorary Life Membership from IPMA-HR

The Alexandria, Va.-based International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) sponsors several recognition programs at the national level for outstanding service, contribution, and accomplishments in the public sector human resources field. This year, Fagan D. Stackhouse, IPMA-CP, the director of human resources for the city of Virginia Beach, Va. received an Honorary Life Membership.

Stackhouse has held numerous offices within IPMA-HR, including, in 2003, that of president. In addition, he has served as a speaker, panelist and moderator at conferences, seminars and workshops. Stackhouse is also active in IPMA-HR’s Southern Region and in the IPMA-HR Virginia Chapter.

Sandra Biloon, labor arbitrator and human resources consultant in West Hartford, Conn., was one of many people who nominated Stackhouse. She said that what Stackhouse has done for IPMA-HR “far exceed the criteria for Honorary Life Membership.”
“He has undertaken and accomplished assignments graciously and creatively that have contributed enormously to achieving IPMA-HR’s goals,” Biloon said.

Honorary Life Memberships are given to recognize and honor persons who have rendered distinguished service in advancing or upholding the purposes of the association. Honorary Life Members have, at no fee, all the rights and privileges of individual members, including the right to hold office in IPMA-HR and to vote on all issues requiring a decision by the membership.

Pam Stewart, IPMA-CP, executive vice president, affiliate development, for the Houston, Texas-based American Leadership Forum, also received an Honorary Life Membership this year.
